GUIDELINES FOR PAPERS

  • Fortnightly papers are filed in the A.K. Smiley Library and published on our Website RedlandsFortnightly.org.
  • The paper should be typed. If necessary a long paper should be excerpted when read, to consume approximately 40 - 45 minutes.
  • It is customary to have at least three extra copies to hand to those members who desire to read along with the speaker.
  • A brief Summary, not to exceed 1 page, double spaced, should accompany the paper. This will be a great aid to the Library in classifying the paper for entry in the reference files
  • A few lines single spaced, presenting the background of the author, should appear at the bottom of the paper.
  • If the paper involves investigative library work, a bibliography should be attached.
  • A one- or two-line list of keywords will facilitate internet search.
  • After the talk, the Secretary will take the library copy for registration with the permanent Fortnightly collection. A diskette or e-mail file of the paper provided to the webmaster will ease adding the paper’s text to the Fortnightly website.

A member is generally responsible for finding a substitute in the event that he cannot read his paper on the scheduled date. It is suggested that he exchange places with someone so that the schedule remains uncomplicated.
